Composer's Note-
La Honda Nova was inspired by La Honda Music Camp, a place that has been part of my life since childhood. My father co-founded the camp in 1962. Over the years I attended as a camper, later served as a counselor and staff member, and eventually returned as Camp Director. Writing this piece was my way of honoring the place where my love of music first took root. Since the chart is a bossa nova, the title became a natural tribute—La Honda Nova. I hope the music captures some of the warmth, friendships, and joy that have made the camp so meaningful to generations of musicians. If this chart encourages another generation of young musicians to discover the same joy of making music that I experienced at La Honda, then it has accomplished exactly what I hoped it would.
